Indianapolis Monumental Marathon

Simon Escorcia was born in the Land of Lincoln and lived in rural Illinois until the age of ten when the family moved across the Mississippi to Burlington, Iowa. He attended Notre Dame High School in Burlington, Iowa where he played basketball, ran track and cross country.

Simon went to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa to study business. While at Luther, Simon ran cross country and track for the Norse and eventually met his future wife Kelly, who also ran on the Norse women's cross country team.

After college, Simon got his MBA at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Post college he worked as a benefits and compensation analyst before leaving the corporate world to start Colorado Race Timing. Colorado Race Timing has grown into one of the most successful timing companies in the state of CO, timing over 100 races last year alone.

Simon continues running post college and has completed 15 marathons with a personal best of 2:43:40 at the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. His post college PRs include a 17:00 in the 5K, 35:59 in the 10K, and 1:18:50 in the half marathon. While Simon continues to run and race, he is no longer chasing PRs and balances his running with functional weight training.

Simon and his wife Kelly live in Centennial, Colorado with their two children. Simon enjoys spending time with his kids, working on basketball fundamentals and watching them wrestle, play soccer, lacrosse, and run in local 5Ks.

Boston Marathon

A Colorado native, Kelly Escorcia was born in Glenwood Springs and grew up in Edwards, Colorado. Kelly spent her youth ski racing, playing basketball, volleyball and running track and cross country. While at Battle Mountain she set the school track record in the 3200m and finished 6th at the state meet in the 3200m her senior year. Along with being a three sport athlete, Kelly was also enjoyed being on student council all four years and was voted President of the school her senior year. She was also a peer councilor and active in the annual school musical.

Kelly left the Centennial State to attend Luther College, in Decorah, Iowa to study accounting. While at Luther College she ran cross country for the Norse on a team that won conference two of the four years she ran and never placed lower than third in the Iowa Conference.

After college, Kelly and her husband moved back to Colorado and she continued to run road races. Kelly has run 8 marathons, with a personal best of 3:00:32 at the Des Moines Marathon. She holds a 5K PR of 18:08, and a half marathon PR of 1:25:06.

Kelly now resides in Centennial, Colorado with her daughter Ava, son Dylan, husband Simon and their golden retriever Marley.  She owns her own accounting and bookkeeping business, 38 State Accounting, LLC. When she's not busy being a mom, working, taking her kids to the mountains to ski, or shuttling them to all their various sporting events and social activites, she also finds time to run on the High Line Canal and weight train.

 

West Side Best Side XC Race

Megan Greene spent most of her younger years growing up in Wausau, Wisconsin. She attended Newman Catholic School and graduated valedictorian of her class. She was the cross country state champion all four years and took home a few titles in the 800m and 1600m on the track. She was also active with the HS yearbook, band, figure skating, and community youth orchestra.

Megan went to Duke University and received a degree in Psychology. She attended on a scholarship with the cross country and track team. She was Duke’s first individual qualifier to the NCAA D1 XC Championship her sophomore year and returned the following two years with her team. She received All-ACC and All-East honors in both cross country and track. Her PR’s include 2:09.55 800m, 4:22.07 1500m, and 9:35.28 indoor 3000m.

After college, Megan moved to Colorado after her now husband Mike convinced her to move out West. She completed an internship at the University of Denver in the Adult Sports Program. Megan then moved on to working in the Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting. She decided to stay home to raise her two children, Audrey and Liam. She has continued to run in distances ranging from the 5k to the marathons. This past fall she ran the Chicago Half Marathon in 1:25:02. She is on the Runners Roost Racing Team and is a member of the Colorado Columbines.

Megan has earned a USATF Level 1 Coaching certification and is the USATF Colorado Association Membership and Sanctions Chair. She enjoys timing races on the weekends for Colorado Race Timing. Her family takes full advantage of everything Colorado has to offer by travelling, biking, hiking, camping, and skiing.
